  • Three courses, the Quary, The Ranch and the Highlands: The Quarry Course: the first at Black Diamond, is consistently recognized as one of America’s greatest. While the list of awards and accolades is impressive, it could never compare to the experience of playing it. Beginning with the elevated tee shot on the 424-yard first hole, the front nine redefines golf in Florida. You’ll experience dramatic elevation changes, classic bunkering, and fairways framed with thousands of beautiful live oaks, dogwoods, myrtles, and magnolias. While it’s difficult to choose the most outstanding hole on the front nine, perhaps the two par 5’s, the fifth and ninth best exemplify the beautiful, but challenging experience that awaits you. The Quarry Course at Black Diamond. Simply breathtaking. The 14th, 15th and 16th holes are carved over and around canyon walls and combine challenging shot making opportunities with more awesome views. This magical stretch of holes, called by writer Dan Jenkins “the best five consecutive holes of golf anywhere in the world” ends with the 218-yard par-3 17th. The 17th drops down into the smaller quarry to a green guarded left and rear by 30-foot high limestone cliffs, and it looks like it’s from another world another time. The Ranch: The rustle of pines and oak in the breeze. The splash of waterfowl on placid ponds. The faint “click” of a golf ball in the distance. Welcome to the Ranch Course at Black Diamond. While the Quarry Course is one of America’s favorites, the Ranch may very well be the members’ favorite. Lush fairways. Rolling meadows. Stands of oak and pine rising up to meet the bluest sky. Completed in 1997 The Ranch was carefully crafted to gently blend into its natural surroundings. Reminiscent of Pine Valley, the Ranch Course sports rolling fairways and dramatic elevation changes of over 100 feet. Strategy rules, with numerous two-tiered greens placing a premium on distance control for approach shots, and par is guarded by numerous sand traps, waste bunkers, and two pristine lakes. The front nine is pure golf—no tricks, no blind shots, no hidden greens. The 445-yard par-4 second hole is a classic; only a long draw off the tee followed by a crisp long iron shot will allow you to putt for birdie on this elevated green. The picturesque par-3 eighth hole brings water into play from tee to green, and on the back-to-back par-5 ninth and tenth holes, you’ll find more sand than most courses have on l8 holes. The Ranch's 16th, 17th and 18th holes “represent the three best finishing holes I've ever designed,” according to Architect Tom Fazio The Highlands: With stunning hilltop views of up to 25 miles, the nine-hole Highlands Course which was completed in 1997, is a magnificent mix of lush, rippling fairways, stands of oak and pine, pristine water features and mesmerizing natural beauty. Poised on the highest point at Black Diamond, the Highlands Course favors an old-fashioned running game, with slightly crowned greens and closely-shaved chipping areas posing a unique test. The 3500-yard, par-36 course also has an impressive slope rating of 147, placing it among the nation’s most challenging. The Highlands can also be played in tandem with either nines of the Ranch Course, offering members a total of four golf venues to choose from.
